Solent NHS Trust goes live with integrated sexual health self-service

As NHS services continue to adapt in response to COVID-19, Solent NHS Trust has become the first in the UK to go live with a system that will facilitate an integrated approach to remote provision of sexual health services.

Solent’s Personal Health Record (PHR), designed by healthcare IT provider Inform Health, will alleviate pressure on clinics and traditional methods of booking appointments via a telephony system. It will also provide holistic visibility over patient data, while empowering patients to self-manage their sexual health by registering on a secure website and creating their own patient record.

Barts Health NHS Trust creates online ‘end-to-end’ COVID-19 staff testing system with Inform Health

Barts Health NHS Trust has transformed Covid-19 staff testing by reconfiguring its existing Inform Health sexual health system to create a digitalised method of managing testing programmes for staff and members of their households.

The Inform Health system replaced spreadsheets in late April, following rapid specification, reconfiguration and user acceptance testing.

Is over the counter contraception the answer to an existing lack of access?

A public consultation led by the MHRA will be collecting public opinion on the potential reclassification of two progestogen-only pill types: Lovima 75 microgram film-coated tablets and Hana 75 microgram film-coated tablets.

Both products are currently only available with a prescription following a medical consultation. If reclassification is approved, the two pill types could be sold over the counter at pharmacies, in what would be a UK first.
